I JM3know that relationships can be the main source of happiness and security in our lives. Yet, all too often, relationships can be painful. My goal in all of my work is to help couples and individuals feel better.

As a Latina therapist, wife and mother, I have a personal and professional understanding of the cultural and relational dynamics in Latin families. I get the nuances of the Latino culture. As a bilingual therapist, I provide therapy in Spanish to ease the therapeutic process for Spanish-speaking clients.

I also understand what it’s like to grow up as a Hispanic American girl and how to assimilate into both the American and Hispanic culture. I had to teach my parents about the American culture. I have quite a few funny stories about that! It wasn’t always easy because their culture was very different. Now, they have lived more years here then in their home country of Bolivia.

I married a Latin husband who is from Peru so now my kids have a multicultural background too, they are bilingual, and assimilate well into both cultures. It is very neat to see them growing up in both cultures, like I did.

This sets me apart from other therapists because it gives me a unique understanding of what it means to be multicultural, and my Latin clients like knowing that I understand our Latin culture. It gives them a sense of comfort right from the start of therapy.

How I work?

I use a solution-focused approach that is both action and process oriented. I feel that things change when we are doing something about them. But, I will also guide you to a deeper understanding of yourself so you can trust yourself and find your happiness. I believe that with attention, support and plan, you can do this.

When you make the first call to speak with me, you won’t speak to a receptionist. You will call my phone directly. I will ask you about why you are seeking therapy at this time. Then, I will let you know where my office is located, my rates for therapy sessions, and a little about what working with me is like.

We will set up your first session as soon as possible. You won’t have to wait for weeks to see me. I can usually get my new clients in the same week that they call me. And that always makes my new clients feel good.

During our sessions, I will create a safe space with you in my office so you can feel comfortable in expressing your feelings. My office looks much like a family room. You are welcome to kick off your shoes, grab a pillow and get comfy.

I am looking forward to hearing your story. I will guide you to talk about the things that are bothering you. I will provide honest and direct feedback in a supportive and nurturing manner.

You will bring a notebook to session where you will take notes on what we talked about in session. That way if you are having a bad day, you will know what to do and have your own plan. When you come back to session, we will talk about how it worked and tweak it to make it your very own personal plan.

I really feel that you deserve love, joy, and peace of mind. You deserve happiness. And I would be honored to help you find it.
